Abstract
This seminar set focus on Housing First in a comparative perspective and we have invited two researchers with expertise in this field. Professor Kazepov will talk about Housing First as an example of social innovation. While social innovations are predominantly understood as a local phenomenon, in his talk Kazepov will point to the risks of the ‘local trap’ and put forward a plea for analyses of local social innovation – including Housing First – from a context-sensitive multi-scalar perspective. Senior Researcher Benjaminsen will talk about the Danish model of Housing First and address the challenges and possibilities of proving housing and social support when aiming at mainstreaming Housing First into municipal welfare services. In his commentaries, Associate Professor Knutagård will relate the presentations to Swedish debates on Housing First and formulate some questions to facilitate the joint discussion.
